Southeastern Louisiana University Women’s Soccer: What Lies Ahead in the 2024 Season

The Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) women's soccer team has been on fire this year during their 2024 season! The girls exemplify hard work and determination on the field and in the classroom. Despite a few losses this season they continue to work hard and preserver through the challenges of the the Southland Conference (SLC). With many talented teams and athletes in the SLC, this blog dives deep into the stats and highlights to this point in the season.

2024 Season in Review

As of early October 2024, the SLU women's soccer team sits at a 3-5-1 overall record and 2-1-0 in the Southland Conference. The girls have had great victories and MVP's that stepped up such as midfielder Hannah McCord, scoring the 1-0 win over University of Incarnate Word, with an assist from Sarah Bancevic.

Goalkeeper Kendall Curran, the newest addition to SLU soccer, showed up with spectacular defense in the 1-0 victory against McNeese. As of right now Curran is stiiting with more than 6 saves, and not to forget about the 2-1 victory over Houston Christian. When we say these girls are on fire, we mean it!

Stat Highlights

• Shots on Goal: The SLU women's soccer team recorded 23 shots against Jackson State.

• Goals: McCord lead her team with an astounding two goals over several matches.

• Defense: SLU’s goalkeeper, Curran, has been a huge addition to the team, with her six-saves against University of Incarnate Word.

• Conference Play: The SLU women's soccer team hold a strong 2-1-0 lead in the Southland Conference.

Challenges and Comebacks

Although these ladies have had a great season so far, there is still work to do. The team faces a setback when losing 2-0 to Texas A&M-Commerce. Unfortunately breaking their winning streak in the SLC play. Despite this setback they still continue to play hard and learn from their mistakes and they move forward with the season.

Getting Involved with the Team

This 2024 season is a nail bitter for SLC soccer fans. With the talent and competitiveness amongst all the teams we know it going to be a great season. With the look of of SLU soccer right now, its the perfect time to show up and show out for this team! SLU women's soccer plays Lamar, the 4 time defending SLC Champions, on October 4th.
